Installing & Launching

Step 1: Prepare Your PC

The PC that you use for processing images needs to have the following installed:

•	Windows 2000; or Windows XP (Recommended)

•	Acrobat 6.0 or 7.0 Standard (professional is optional)

•	GhostScript 8.5 (included with ELAN Professional Proofer)

•	256K of RAM

•	150 Mb free hard drive space.

Step 2: Install ELAN Professional Proofer

1.	Exit any programs that you may have running.

2.	Insert the ELAN Professional Proofer CD into the CD drive of your scan station. The CD has an auto-run file that will launch the installation program automatically for you.

3.	Click each of the Install buttons from top to bottom and follow their installation instructions.

4.	When you have installed all four products, click the Exit button to close the Installation program.

5.	Now launch Proofer, either by double-clicking the desktop shortcut or by selecting it from the Start>Programs menu.

6.	The first screen will ask you for a code to unlock the product. It will also provide you with an identification number for your computer. Send this identification number to your ELAN representative by email to have the unlock key sent back to you.

7.	Once it arrives, re-launch the setup program, enter the unlock key, and click OK.

8.	The setup program will guide you through the rest. Simply read the instructions and indicate your choices.

If you have trouble with the installation process, please do not hesitate to contact your ELAN representative.

PDFSnake, PitStop and GhostScript are third-party tools. Your ELAN Professional Proofer license includes licenses to these applications.

Step 4: Launch ELAN Professional Proofer

The installation program may have left a shortcut icon on your desktop, you can double-click this shortcut to launch ELAN Professional Proofer.

Alternatively, you can select the program from the Start Menu > Programs > ELAN Professional Proofer > ELAN Professional Proofer.
