This is a sample/example of ELAN processing of scanned book pages. This is a two page PDF file. The first page of this PDF is the "before" (the original 8 bit grayscale contone scan at 600 ppi) and the next page is the 'after'. This is page is output from ELAN, where we have deskewed the page, applied page segmententation, thresholded the text, despecked the text area (anything smaller than the dot above an i or a period is retained) and descreened the image, then exported a PDF. Page 2 of the PDF is actually two (2) images, one 8 bit and the text and line art 1 bit.
