Visual Settings
| The Visual Settings page contains all the parameters that affect the look of the program. A screen shot of these options is shown in Figure 10-1.

| The Windows 98-style group box holds the options that make PPP look like Office 97 or Windows 98:

| · | Shaded caption: Check this option to use a shaded caption bar in the main window. To change the shading colors, click the Shading Colors button.
|
| · | Use system caption shading on Win98 / NT 5.0: This option has effect only under Windows 98 or Windows NT 5.0. If this option is checked, PPP's main window will use the system shading options. If the option is unchecked, the main window will use the Shaded caption settings, or if it is also turned off, the main window will not be shaded at all.
|
| · | Flat tool buttons: Check to use Office 97-style flat tool buttons. Uncheck to use old-style Windows 95 tool buttons.
|
| · | Hyperlink-style checkboxes: Check this option to use blue underlined caption in check boxes and radio buttons when the mouse pointer is over these items. Uncheck to use old-style Windows 95 check boxes and radio buttons.

| If you click the Shading Colors button, the Caption Shading Colors dialog box will pop up as shown in Figure 10-2.

| The caption bar of the Caption Shading Colors dialog box displays a preview of the selected color. Click on a color button to select a color.

| The Exception List group box contains two settings that affect the appearance of the Exception List and Good Files List:

| · | Show overview image: Check to display the Mini Overview on the right side of the Exception List window and Good Files List window. This option should only be disabled on very slow machines.

| · | Show small thumbnails: Check to display the small thumbnails in the Exception List and Good Files List. The small thumbnail images will look as shown in Figure 10-3. If you do not find them useful, you can turn them off.

| The Process indicator group box contains only one option:

| · | Show animation: Check to show the running cheetah animation in the process indicator dialog box. The animation does not slow down your machine at all; it takes up little processor time, much less than when you are moving the cursor on the screen. If you believe that it is better to turn the animation off, uncheck this option.
