Setting Canvas Size
Previous Top Next

The size of the output canvas can be set in the Canvas group box as shown in Figure 6-12.

Figure 6-12. Canvas Parameters.

At the top of the Canvas group box is the Keep original image size check box. If this check box is checked, the other items in the group box are disabled. In this case, the output canvas size will be the same as the input image size.

If you uncheck that check box, the other items in the group box will be available. Here you can choose a canvas size from the following list:

·Autodetect: Sets the canvas size to the same as the first image in the Selected Files List.
·Letter: The canvas size will be 8.5" x 11".
·Legal: The canvas size will be 8.5" x 14".
·Tabloid: The canvas size will be 11" x 17".
·A4: The canvas size will be 210 mm x 297 mm.
·A3: The canvas size will be 297 mm x 420 mm.
·Custom: Use custom canvas size, different than the standard image sizes listed above

You can change the size anytime by editing the size edit boxes located by the radio buttons, or by switching the radio buttons.

The orientation of the image can be selected at the bottom of the group box. The orientation can be portrait or landscape.

For legal reasons, you might sometimes want to keep the full contents of the input image, even the area outside the detected subimage. This option is on the right side of the Cleanup page and is only available if positioning mode is selected (Figure 6-13).

If the Keep outside subimage check box is checked, the image processor will keep the whole contents of the original image. Some parts of the image may stick out of the output canvas, except for the subimage itself. The subimage must always be within the margins, otherwise an exception will be generated. If the check box is unchecked, the image processor will clear everything outside the subimage. In most cases, you will want to uncheck this box.
