Configuring Thumbnail Viewer
Previous Top Next

The Thumbnail Viewer has several options that you can change to fine tune the quality and size of the thumbnails.

To set up thumbnail quality, click PPP Options... on the Options menu. Select the Image Viewer tab and find the Image quality group box at the bottom of the page as shown in Figure 7-12.

These options affect the quality of the thumbnails and the downscaled images throughout PPP. To read more about changing image quality, refer back to Configuring Built-in Image Viewer section in this chapter.

The thumbnail size can be changed in the Thumbnail display group on the Thumbnails page of the Options dialog box. The thumbnail display options are shown in Figure 7-13.

The scale factor determines the amount of the downscale. The scale factor is resolution dependent. The higher resolution images are larger, so they must be downscaled more than the low resolution images. You do not need to calculate the scale for all resolutions. You just specify the scale factor for one of the four resolutions, and the other scale factors will be recalculated by PPP, so that the thumbnail size will not be resolution dependent. It will only depend on the dimensions of the original image.

At the bottom of the group box is a check box. If this is checked, the Thumbnail View will be hyper-style, like hyper links in Windows 98. Whenever you move the mouse over a thumbnail, it will be highlighted automatically. If you do not like this feature, just uncheck the check box.
