ELAN Capture™

ELAN Capture™ is a PC software product providing unique functionality for rapidly converting paper or image based business information to digital files suitable for storing in a database, serving over the Internet or publishing to a CD/DVD ROM. Capture™ encompasses the full imaging, editing, indexing and conversion process. PDF, TIFF and other raster format outputs.

Product Highlights

    • ELAN Capture™ is a professional scanning software for document capture applications. The scanning process is automated by the use of barcode recognition. Barcodes can be printed and recognized. New: scan different portions of your jobs on different scanners and merge them at a later time. Mixed sized scanning (letter size, drawings) or color/B&W scanning into one job is now
    • The user can easily configure actions (hierarchy creation, list item creation, indexing) based on barcodes. Image processing operations can be performed interactively in batch mode. Fast and natural page detection, resizing, reordering and editing tools are at the fingertip of the operator. New: Thresholding tool, edge cleanup with content detection.
    • Hierarchical job handling gives the user a natural way of looking at large amounts of information. Hierarchy levels can be translated to new documents or PDF bookmarks.
    • In addition, you can add index information (metadata) to your image files to help you quickly retrieve it later -- regardless of where you have filed it. Using industry-leading optical character recognition (OCR) technology, ELAN Capture™ can recognize the text on your images, and save the image along with the text hidden in the file to allow for even more precise search capabilities.
    • Convert the rich information discovered by the fast and effective imaging and outlining tools into PDF format.
    • ELAN Capture™ lets you capitalize on rich PDF functionality such as optimizing your created PDF files for the web, creating bookmarks, embedding metadata and creating hyperlinks.
    • A royalty-free CD/DVD-ROM publishing application is also part of the offering.
    • The Capture products are widely used as front-end to database and document management applications.

Operating System:

Hardware Requirements:


IBM-compatible PC with minimum operating system configuration, which varries based on the operating system.

Recommended Configuration:


Fast, single-processor PC with fast hard disk and high performance system bus. Windows XP with 500MB RAM. Heavy color document scanning requires 2 GB RAM. A high performance graphics card and a 19"+ monitor with 1280x1024+ pixel resolution is also recommended.
