Batch Processing
| Previous | Main | Next |
ELAN Capture is able to process more then one image for certain commands. We can divide batch processing tools into two separate categories:
Batch processing that always work with all of the images in a job:
- Renaming Tool
- Barcode Recognition
- Blank Page Removal
- Bates Stamping
- Zone Recognition (Forms processing)
- Job Ticketing
Batch processing that can work on a selection of images (including all images selected)
The individual commands are discussed in the Image Tools.
- Deskew (automatic)
- Despeckle
- Invert
- Border Removal
- Page Turning
- Thresholding
- Edge Cleanup with Page Detection
Here are the instruction how to process images that To invoke batch processing, you need to select images in the Job Tree and select one of the available commands. Once invoked, the selected images will be processed one after the other until all the images of the selection are processed.

Selection for batch processing
There are several ways to select more the one image (or node) in the tree:
- Shift & Click: (1) Select an initial node with your mouse by clicking on it (2) Hold down your Shift key (3) click on a different image.
- Control & Click: (1) select an initial node (2) Hold down your Control key (3) Keep on clicking on different nodes. (4) nodes will be added to the selection. Attention: you can not remove nodes from the selection. This is a slightly different behavior if you compare to the standard Windows Explorer interface. The reason for this is that you can change focus (image view) while in the selection.
- Control & A: (1) click on any node (Press Ctrl+a. All nodes will be selected.
The batch processing operation has a special "safety" feature: Batch Undo. Many times you might find that the batch operation you have just performed did not turn out as you liked. This might be due to an incorrect setting, bad selection or oversight. There are two "rescue" commands available to save the day from the "Image" menu:

Batch Undo
Undo last batch all:
Restores the last batch operation, all files effected.
Undo last batch selected:
Select a file and click on the menu item "Image -> Undo last batch selected". Restores the last batch operation, but for only the one file you have selected.
Note: a simple mechanism is implemented for the batch undo feature: a special folder called "BatchUndo" is created once a batch operations is invoked. It is located right under the current job folder.
