Capture Pro Modules
ELAN Desktop Environment modules are the building blocks of the applications. The table below lists the modules included in this product.
| Title | Description |
|---|---|
Standard ELAN GMK scanning module for TWAIN compatible scanners, including network scanning devices. |
Standard viewing module for raster images with limited PDF viewing capabilities. Supports B&W, grayscale and color image viewing. An automatic thumbnail generator is also included as part of the module. |
Adds PDF viewing capabilities to the standard raster viewing module. The PDF files are displayed using either the Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat in an integrated window. The page oriented display delivers the most standard-based viewing for validation purposes. |
The Barcode Detection Module detects one or more barcodes on a raster image. After detection, a Barcode List will be created and the barcode values will be associated with the raster image in the ELAN Tree View module. The user can set up Barcode Rules which can trigger actions in the Job Tree. |
The Optical Character Recognition (OCR) module provides interactive or batch conversion of raster images or regions to text entities. It is used to populate index fields, detect table of content, page numbers, paragraph text etc.. The converted text entities can be corrected or left uncorrected. In batch conversion, the paragraph text is saved as hidden text. These hidden text entities can be later used for searching and locating of the content. |
Performs basic image processing with batch undo capabilities, but without the complex error checking, exception handling and rules-based processing found in the Advanced Image Processor. The available image processing features are applied to a selection of files. The files can be selected by highlighting nodes in the Browser, Job Tree or Thumbnail view. The image processing features are initiated by the Editor Plugin. |
Processes several jobs in batch mode. The batch processor creates a log file for accounting purposes. A visual processing log is also displayed at the end of the processing. Large number of files can be processed in unattended mode. |
A unique consecutive string ("Bates Number" as called in the legal marketplace) can be generated and placed automatically on scanned pages. The Bates number is placed initially on a separate layer to avoid problems with subsequent image processing operations. The Bates numbers will be permanently placed on the output raster images. |
Raster image editing module with comprehensive image editing and manipulation features. The functionality of the module is optimized for production editing of scanned images. The editor has multi-layer capability and can handle B&W, grayscale and color images. |
Provides ways to attach record-specific information to a document. Enables automatic bookmark creation in PDF files. Enables document segmentation. The indexer works within a job, defined by the ELAN Job Tree. It is integrated with the Tree View, where index fields can be set up and values can be attached to files or hierarchy nodes. The population of index fields can be manual, or assisted by barcode recognition and automated forms identification. OCR scraping of image files is also supported. |
Provides tools for renumbering, insertion and deletion of pages defined by a job in Tree-View-enabled applications. The Job Tree is also used to build document hierarchy using the outlining tool. The List Manager provides filtering of the associated data. Pages can be arranged, moved, inserted and renamed to reflect the structure of the document. The outlining and page manipulation is performed using easy-to-use icons associated with the ELAN Tree-View plug-in. The Job Tree is synchronized with the Editor, Viewer and Thumbnail modules. |
Processes one or more jobs in an unattended batch process. Comprehensive log generation and display is provided. |
The PDF Conversion Module creates standard or linearized PDF files. The PDF files can be single-layer or multi-layer, depending on the image components of the page originator application (Standard Image Processor, Image Processor Pro, Elan Editor etc.). The created PDF files can be in single-page of multipage format. Bookmarks and hyperlinks are supported. Searchability of the PDF file is supported through the OCR process (when the OCR Module is available). The PDF Metadata entries (Document Information Fields) are also supported if presented by an indexing application. Opening page behavior can be specified |
The user can print various barcodes based on a sting value entered, or retrieved by a database. Sequential numbers can be also printed. The barcode printing application includes a Form Designer, where the user can set up canvas size, add, remove and format strings, graphic objects (raster and vector entities) and insert fields. The fields and strings can be printed using barcode format and/or human readable format. |
The Image Printing Module prints to standard Windows® printers. When a set of files is selected, a dialog box displays the printing settings. Images can be selected either from the Browser View, Job Tree or thumbnails. The pages can be previewed before printing. |
Creates a set of data files which can be transferred to CD-ROM or DVD. The dataset also contains a retrieval application which is able to run from the removable media. The data mus originate from a Job Tree. The retrieval application is capable of searching based on metadata (index field search). The generated PDF files are displayed with the Elan View module. |
Transfers a set of output files (data files and metadata) to a pre-determined FTP or HTTP site. |
